“The Happiness Project” - Book Review

“The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun” by Gretchen Rubin.

A married mother of two, Gretchen, wasn’t as happy as she wanted to be, but she loved her life. She didn’t want to make huge changes, but she did want to be less judgemental and prepare now for future challenges. This book teaches that happiness isn’t something that just happens, through effort you can change your life in ways that will allow you to be happier. She shares how she focused on being less judgemental, worrying less about what others thought, spending money better, paying attention, increasing her energy levels, and acting the way she wanted to feel. This book also helped give us the idea to start our own happiness project but focused on our marriage (The Couple Project).
