Bread

Yeast Ingredients

  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp yeast
  • 1 Tbsp sugar

Dough Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 5-7 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Proof yeast. Place warm water, yeast, and 1 Tbsp of sugar in a tall glass and let rise for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Melt butter (microwave).
  3. Add 5 of the 7 cups of flour with the rest of the dough ingredients and mix.
  4. Mix yeast into the dough.
  5. While mixing, slowly add remaining flour until dough is smooth and the sides of the bowl are clean.
  6. Continuing mixing for five minutes.
  7. Cover bowl and let rise for an hour.
  8. Grease three bread pans.
  9. Form dough into 3 loaves and place in pans. Cover and let dough rise until double.
  10. Bake at 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes until browned on top.
